First time at this location, been eating at the melting pot for over 30 years...
The service was great the food was great the experience was great, and this establishment is about the experience as much as it is about the food- not uncommon for a meal to take one and a half to two hours...
We are our brains out. So much fun. Playful staff. Fresh food. Delicious fondue of multiple types. Great specials. We had a blast.
What a great place to have a date. Go here if you want to spend a lot of time talking between each course.
This what I call; a little slice of heaven. Whether on a romantic date, having your surprise birthday party catered or taking your mom for VD it's the best money you'll ever spend. My brother says, "why go to place where I have to cook my own food?" To that I say, "that's what's so fun about it, sharing that experience with people you love ANNNDD you get to cook the food to your own taste." If you want to impress me, take me here for dinner.
Our first trip to this Melting Pot and we were underwhelmed. Celebrating a special occasion we made dinner reservations with Open Table. Upon arrival I knew we were in trouble as the hostess seated us in the back of the restaurant with the large party groups -- (we were a party of 3 seated with parties as large as 10 and 12 people). No server in the back even made eye contact with us -- the waiters were so busy you could tell that they were stressed trying to keep up with all the tables . After 20 minutes with zero acknowledgement .... my husband finally approached the hostess stand. We requested to be seated in another section. That process took another 10 minutes. I understand that the Melting Pot can be a very lengthy ordeal but from beginning to end our meal took almost two and a half hours --- we were not even drinking wine. We never saw a manager during our entire ordeal. You'd think after complaining to the hostess and our server that someone from management would have come to our table and apologized for the subpar service. Sorry Richmond Melting Pot but we will not be back. To summarize our entire evening in two words -- SERVICE SUCKED.
